What is Ellacor™?
The Ellacor™ Sytem with Micro-Coring Technology is a new and innovative aesthetic device that uses micro-coring technology to remove sagging skin caused by aging. Ellacor™ is FDA cleared and indicated for use for the treatment of moderate and severe wrinkles in the mid to lower face in adults 22 years or older with Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV, although it can be used on sagging skin on other areas of the body.
How it works:
Ellacor™ uses hollow needles specifically designed to remove micro-cores of excess skin without evidence of scarring. The micro-cores are so miniscule, it does not leave any scars. After the skin is removed, the body’s natural healing response goes into effect as the skin quickly realigns to close the cores and triggers collagen production, which results in improved appearance of wrinkles. After an ellacor™ treatment, the skin heals faster (average of 3 days) compared to other energy-based procedures that use heat for regenerative purposes.

How is the ellacor™ System different from other skin revitalization devices?
Ellacor™ removes micro-portions of excess skin to improve the appearance of wrinkles. In contrast, many other skin revitalization devices use heat generated by laser, radiofrequency, and ultrasound energy for regenerative purposes.
How many treatments will I need?
As every patient has different needs, we recommend you speak with your provider to determine the right treatment plan for you. In the clinical trial, most patients underwent a series of three treatments spaced approximately 30 days apart.
How long is a typical treatment?
An ellacor™ treatment typically takes about 30 minutes or less, but with pre and post treatment care expect a 2 hour appointment.
Is the procedure painful?
Your provider will provide you with appropriate anesthesia prior to the procedure to make you more comfortable. Most patients in our clinical trial reported pain during the procedure as less
than 2 on a 0-10 scale.
Is the recovery time long?
There is minimal recovery time following the ellacor™ procedure. In the clinical trial, patients experienced an average of 3 days of solid downtime. The first 24 hours, patient should expect redness, swelling, and mild drainage from the treatment area.
Does ellacor™ use laser, radiofrequency, or ultrasound energy?
The ellacor™ System does not use thermal energy to achieve results, which typically results in faster healing time than many energy-based treatments.
How is ellacor™ different from microneedling?
Microneedling uses tiny needles to injure the tissue, creating a healing response. Typically, microneedling is recommended for extremely fine lines and discoloration. Ellacor™ is the first device to actually remove skin and is a great option for patients with more severe wrinkles and sagging skin and do not want or are not ready for a facelift.
Can I receive ellacor™ if I have a darker skin tone?
Because darker skin types (V and VI) may react differently to aesthetic treatments than lighter skin types (I-IV), a separate clinical study is needed to evaluate the proper protocols for using ellacor™ on darker skin types.
What are the potential side effects?
Side effects are typically mild and include swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising following the procedure. Most side effects resolve within 7-10 days post-treatment.
