Forever Young BBL™ is a preventative treatment to keep young skin looking young and delay the signs of aging. In a retrospective study, 15 patients ages 38 to 69 received at least one Forever Young BBL™  treatment per year for 5 to 11 years. Then, based on pre- and post-treatment photos, about 500 evaluators estimated the age of each patient.

The study found that patients’ skin looked about 10 years younger than its actual age due to improvement in sun damage, wrinkles, and other signs of aging skin.

The use of Alastin Skin Nectar 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment is highly recommended to optimize your result and shorten the duration of your recovery.  The Alastin Skin Nectar has been clinically proven to clear cellular debris in the skin to allow for new collagen growth and reduce inflammation during the healing process.

Use a gentle cleanser after treatment. We recommend the Alastin Gentle Cleanser or Restore Gentle Cleanser.

Keep your skin hydrated with consistent moisturizing. Moisturizing your skin after treatment is important to help to promote. Alastin Ultra Nourishing Moisturizer, EltaMD Barrier Renewal Complex, EltaMD AM or PM Therapy, or Restore Facial Lotion or Facial Cream.

Daily use of a sunscreen to the treated area is imperative for at least 3 months. If direct sun exposure is unavoidable, wear a hat and clothing that covers the treated area. DLC carries Wallaroo sun protective hats and BloqUV sun protection clothing in our office.

What is Forever Young BBL™ Photofacial?

How is Forever Young BBL™ Photofacial different from other IPLs?

BroadBand Light (BBL) is the most advanced and versatile broadband light system in its class. BBL uses Smart Filters™ allowing for quick and easy adjustment of wavelengths to address multiple skin concerns.

What conditions does it treat?

Forever Young BBL™ treats brown pigmentation such as freckles and age spots. BBL also treats vascular issues such as redness, small blood vessels, and rosacea as well as aging skin, uneven skin texture, and loss of firmness.

How does Forever Young BBL™ work?

The light energy delivered by BBL will precisely deliver laser energy to specific targets in your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate. If brown spots are the target, BBL penetrates the skin to reach the pigment. The particles of the pigment left behind will peel or slough off within 7-14 days. If redness is the target, blood vessels in the superficial layers of the skin absorb the laser energy which causes them to close. Over the course of several weeks, the body continues to absorb the destroyed vessel remnants.

What does Forever Young BBL™ feel like?

Patients often describe a warm popping sensation. You may experience some discomfort in more sensitive areas. A topical anesthetic is recommended.

Is there downtime associated with Forever Young BBL™?

Immediately following treatment, you can expect to see redness, and it may feel like a slight sunburn in the treated area. Depending on the aggressiveness of your treatment, you may have swelling for a day or two. Pigmentation will turn darker and will look like fine coffee grounds, which eventually slough off within 7-14 days. You may have bruising with vascular treatments.

What areas of my body can be treated?

All areas of the body can be treated. Long-term benefits of Forever Young BBL™ are appreciated on all areas of the body.

How many treatments will I need?

Multiple sessions are performed every 2-6 weeks until the desired result has been achieved. Usually 3 to 4 treatments are required for full correction, although additional treatments especially for rosacea and vascular sun damage, may be required. For prejuvenation or to maintain your results, 4 treatments per year are recommended. We recommend one treatment every 3 months.

What aftercare do I need?

You may be sensitive to sunlight and should apply sunscreen and other skin care products as directed by your provider.
